An attempt to compensate for the Earth being affected by global warming results in a technological hiccup which turns the planet's surface into one great snowy expanse. Colony 7, which is led by the benevolent and world-weary Briggs (Fishburne), receives a distress call from the nearby Colony 5 and Briggs recruits a team to traverse the frozen landscape and help their fellow survivors.
